Yup, seems to work fine against 8.1.7.  Don't have anything earlier.

has anybody tried it against a 8.0 or 8.1 database to see if it works
(even though the web pages says 9.2 and up)

  not really ... you can click on SQL worksheet button and open
another worksheet for current connection. I am currently working on 3
independent connections. I'd love to have CTRL+TAB to switch between
tabs, but then again I just logged an enhancement request for that.
